In the world of medical manufacturing, reliability is not just a technical feature - it’s an operational requirement and a guarantee for the health of end patients. This is the framework in which the collaboration between AL.MA. and one of BD’s (Becton Dickinson) key production sites takes place. 

During a recent visit to AL.MA.'s headquarters, BD representatives attended the Factory Acceptance Test of a blister packing machine designed for a new disposable medical device. While it was a key technical milestone, the meeting also became an opportunity to reflect on the added value of the partnership.

 

Beyond the Blister Packing Machine: Responsiveness and Support

 

From the very start of the interview, one key aspect emerged: the trust built through AL.MA.’s responsiveness and ongoing support. “We already have two AL.MA. machines in our production line,” said the BD representative, “and both have been completely reliable. No downtimes, no unexpected stops- production has always run smoothly.”

But satisfaction extended beyond just the machinery. “This test wasn’t easy,” he continued, “because we were working with a brand-new device and integrating a second process step. It was a challenge, but the result was efficient and fully functional.”

AL.MA.’s on-site presence, flexibility in facing complex situations, and proactive listening made a real difference. It wasn’t just about troubleshooting - it was about co-creating solutions in real time, working side by side.

 

Blister Packaging as a Strategic Part of the Process

 

In the medical field, packaging plays a critical role in protecting the device. “The blister packing machine is one of the most important pieces of equipment in the line,” explained the BD technician. “It ensures the sterility of the product until final use. It’s what protects the patient from external contamination. For us, it’s a crucial step.”

From an operational and usability standpoint, the experience has also been positive: “After a short learning curve with the HMI interface, our operators found the machine easy to use. Mechanical adjustments were minimal and straightforward - mostly because the machine worked well from the start.”

Although the collaboration between BD and AL.MA. began with a specific technical project, it quickly evolved into an ongoing dialogue. “The positive experience with AL.MA. - both technically and in terms of relationship - makes us consider them a reliable reference point for future production needs,” said the project manager. “It’s not just about the machine’s quality, but about how every phase was handled - with attentiveness, expertise, and fast response.”

When asked whether he would recommend AL.MA. to other internal teams within the company, the answer was clear: “Yes, without hesitation. We’ve seen their approach firsthand, and we’re confident recommending them as a qualified partner within our organization.”
